Good effort today, good come back after going doing by 1.

Some good stuff today: dissent, some Ben, Jason and Lloyd breaking their ducks.
Won't take away too much from the Pony's match report.
Pony= Dan, pushing the dude over in the box.
Stallion= Psul, epic save.
Decided would do votes for mvp points, get them in before Wed.

Superb result and performance fellas. One very relieved pony when that pen sailed wide.

Attack stepped up after midweek challenge.

My votes for MVP: Rauru 3, season's best, heaps of running, good passing and making chances; Gus 2, great goal, heaps of movement and good aggression ;-) and Tangi 1 midweek rallying, great defensive marshaling and a couple good forays forward!

What a feeling! Great Win Lads - should be a fiery return fixture!

3 - Tangi
2 - Rauru
1 - Aaron ( mostly for that run, I didn't know he could out run anyone!)

Great spirit guys. Our perplexing habit of conceding early in the second half reared its ugly head, but we didn't let it get us down and responded in the best kind of way (although I think that penalty miss was a real game-changer).

For points, I would go: Gus 3 for a generally inspired performance but most importantly for the glorious goal (outside of the foot - touch of class) that swung the game in our favour; Rauru 2 for getting in all the right places and being fired up enough to concede a yellow for sniping; Tangi or Jason 1 - Tangi marshaled the defence superbly, but Jason is a goal-scoring sensation and also saved my butt by blocking a goal-bound shot in the second half.

Yea was a top game guys. It was great to be playing on a pitch that's not heavy underfoot. MVP points are near impossible to pick. This really was a great team win and to do it after going down 1-0 so early in the 2nd half is good for us. I cant remember many (or any) times where we have won after going down a goal, so to combine that with our first win at KP was huge.

I'm not going to offer any suggestions for points but things that come to mind (starting from the back):
Paul - two big saves in the first half, the one handed block being the pick of it. We surely have the best keeper in our grade.
Tangihaere and Jason - Solid as always in the centre of D.
Graham - Miscued a few kicks in the first half (becoming a trademark) but made some important tackles in the second half towards he end when the attackers ran down his flank. Did well to get his body and a foot in the way and was able to disrupt things well.
Mike and Spencer - Solid in their half each. Not much got down their flank either. What our D lacks in pace they make up for in organisation and working for each other. Spencers chop will live long in my memory!
Dan and Rob - tireless on the wings. Dan's throws are invaluable and I couldn't get him to stop running. Even when I was trying to defend the lead with 10 to go he'd pop up on attack and then be back on D. Rob was up and down his wing all day as well.
Lloyd and Aaron - Kept control of the centre well. They had some dangerous ball players that hung around the middle but there was no panic and play was shut down.
Paddy - Made a late cameo and won two clearance diving headers the second of which started the movement that ended up leading to the 3rd goal.
Logan and me - Like Gus said after the game it seemed to make a difference defending from the front. Putting their defenders under pressure they tended to just hammer the ball upfield which was dealt with pretty easily. A great finish by Gus for his goal and good interplay. It was a lot of fun being out there. Can't believe that my mouth was stifled so early on by the card but maybe that gave me more energy to run!

Just a really good game to be a part of.

For what it's worth I'd say:
Logan - 3
One of the central defenders - 2
The other central defender/Paul - 1

I agree with Pepe's recommendations, though I'd hate Aaron to miss out on a point for his storming run...But a saved goal is also bloody good...

3 = Gus. Presence up the front, bringing down a lot of balls (ha ha, balls) and making something of them. Classy goal.
2 = Rauru. Same thing minus a classy goal and plus a yellow card for wearing lippy (or was it being lippy?).
1 = Aaron, for his run and a good all-round game. Sorry Jase, I don't remember your save, though I don't doubt it happened! Aaron's run is difficult to forget though!

Now that Rauru has praised me in such a fulsome manner, I realised that I forgot to mention that getting an overhead kick on target was another MVP point-worthy moment. Sure it was a bit loopy, but it still forced a save....

MVP's
3 - Gus, flat track bully.
2 - Rauru, unlucky not to score a couple.
1 - Aaron, got around the field and was annoying as ever.

Go with Jason's call -
3-gus
2-rauru
1-aaron
Although it is hard to go past Jason. Trust the Stallions to require a defender to show the strikers how to score goals.

Hard to know who to leave out from Gus, Rauru, Aaron and Jason. Can't think of anyone who had a bad game. At a pinch I'd say:

3-Jason
2-Gus
1-Aaron

Although that seems hard on Rauru, and just as well Paul got the Stallion as I'd feel he'd been left out otherwise.

How good does that table look? Not so much third, but best defence and least ammount of loses!

As for points I was thinking:
3 - Logan
2 - Jason
1 - Rauru

Very happy to drop of the points list, those 3 had huge games. Bit surprised that Lloyd hasn't come through with a 3 point nomination for me though! Too busy smack talking the daughters?ii

Right, let's continue where we left off this Saturday.
