I was going to wait until the end of the first round, but curiosity got the better of me, so here are the standings and points so far.

You may want to double check that I gave you the correct amount of points. Graham, you don't need to. I checked and double checked. You have 6 points. Lachlan, you too. As good as your TAB form is, you only have 8 in this picking comp.
This just goes to show the importance of getting the score and margin correct. While Lachlan picked the winner of each game correct, he still got less points than had he picked just one exact score. Unfair? Maybe. Tough s**t? Absolutely.
Tonight's games are potentially very big. Holland and Italy both have key injuries, and opinion is very spread on how France will go against Romania.
If people want to edit any picks they send me once injuries or anything else kick in, feel free to do so, but I must get picks by 6pm the day before kickoff UK time. However, once picks go up on this blog they can not be changed, as it would be unfair to base your picks on what someone else thinks.
In the event of a draw in standings at the end of the competition, the winner will be decided by who has picked the most correct exact scores. If that is equal, then it will go to the most correct teams and margins, then correct teams, then whoever got the most points for the final game, then semis etc etc.

Oh my gosh. Just watched the worst game of football ever. Not a single shot of interest. Romania bored the hell out of me, and France didn't do much better. Favourite quote from BBC panel - "The worst part was when the official showed 3 minutes to play and we had to endure more of it". It was even worse knowing that bloody Aaron picked a draw, and that even though Patrick dropped points, he still picked up 5 more than anyone else close to him.
things aren't looking so promising for me in the Italy game though...
Now that was a better game!! 3-0 to the Dutch, absolutely spanking the i-ti's. First goal was blatantly off-side, but the next two were quality. No-one did very well really, it was a pretty big upset - the score if not the result. Logan, Aaron, Hodges were the only ones to pick up points and even then they only got 2 points. Aaron came out the best today with 7 points. Make sure you all get picks in!
I will take this as my moment of glory- one of only three to pick the winner and only i guessed correctly how many goals the satsumas would get.

So any the rest of you clowns still going at 100%? Umm,no. Yet I'm still only mid-table. Shame rauru set up a system that rewards flashes of brilliance/luck rather than consistency. Who would have guessed, that's a gelled-up, shaved legs striker for you.
Shaved legs?! Ha ha. Obviously I wore my socks too high.
Yes, in hindsight it may have been better just to award bonus points for margins and exact scores, but after the Spainish game with points being won and lost in a heartbeat, it adds to the excitement.
