match preview

Marist inter, 2008 - including everyone's favorite goalie.

Let's face it, last year Marist had the wood over us big time. 1st game of the season, we went down 3-1, but the Stallions were in shock after losing Jamie before kickoff, seeing ben squeeze into the reserve goalie jersey, and the brightness of our new strip.

Round 2 at Anderson was a goal fest - for them. This time the Stallions were shocked to see Graham in goal with his purple 70's disco number goalie top, which looked especially nice from behind - seen lots as G-Mann picked the ball up out of the back of the net 4 or 5 times (can't really remember). This was an especially embarrassing game since the Sealords who played the early game came to watch the 2nd and 3rd teams, and saw that one was clearly better than the other.

Were marist the only team to beat us 'home' and 'away' last season? Both have won 1, lost 1 this season. With 2 teams who try to attack it always seems to make for a bit of a pingpong, action packed encounter. The same will be true on Saturday, especially as the Stallions bring the freeflowing efforts of the last 2 weeks to Cobham Park. No dislocated kneecaps , please. No breaking down at all.

Predictions?

Hey, I just saw Carlos (Marist Inter's captain) and he asked me where we (the Stallions) were playing. I told him I had 'moved on' but I thought they were playing him.
He said they have moved up to Cap 5 (with Wgtn Utd Arms) which means both Marist teams in Cap 7 are new.
So unfortunately no revenge for you, yet...

Also, in 'other team' updates - Olympic (with the angry coach) were playing opposite us last week so I had a quick word, and they are actually doing alright - might even be back up next season...

Oh stink - always a good team to play, but perhaps the new Marist team will be easier to crush. Their promotion will piss the Magpies off no end, but i guess it was more about having 3 marist teams in Div 7.

How's your season progressing Nick? Homesick yet? We have to keep an eyeout for when/if we are ever on the same park and come offer some support ...

An extra shame since we voted them our most hated team for 2009 by 31% in the recent poll.

We now have 3 most hated teams: both Karori teams (one of whom we have never seen before, the others now by default our traditional Div 7 rivals) and the whole damn Island Bay club and anybody affiliated with it for poaching Nick G.

Perhaps after today's game we will have a new most hated ...

He said they were promoted because there was a Marist team in Div 5 last year but it was disolved. So they had a playoff with one of the other Marist teams (in Div 7 now) for who would go up. They won.

Season's going well. Was great to get in two games at Easter weekend. Have been playing well and even scored MOM in the first two games.

Yup, very Stallions sick, especially the fine sessions!

Good luck today.
