Smell the fear ...

Match report for United Elite vs Petone Stewsmum (from Elite's perspective) here

If you just want the highlights, here we go:
- Stewsmum buying Elite jugs for providing their first win of the year.

Oh yeah - and this:

'Back home to the Zoo next week for a tough clash with old foes the Uni Stallions who are 5 and 1 and 20 and 4. This will be a battle to remember.'

A couple of interesting things to note:
1 - We are now a team to be feared.
2 - We thought this was a new United team, but apparently we are 'old foes'. Does this mean that there has been some name swapping, and that 'Elite' and really the 'Arms' from last season (while an 'Arms' team is in Div 6). Either way we are in for a battle as they put it. Last season we had 2 tough games against 'Arms' : 1 loss and 1 draw. But theres 1 big difference - we playing some good football now.

Not so sure they are the Arms Aaron, after speaking to one of the Raiders it sounds like the Arms are still with them.

Looking back at previous years tables there has been another Wgtn United team without a tag a lot of the time in the same grade as the Stallions.

In 03 and 04 they were in Div 7 with Stallions, but they then went up for a year, only to come ninth in Div 6 in 05 (when Arms made an appearance in Div 7) and return to Div 7 in 06.

In 2006 Wgtn united came 2nd while we were 4th (beating the Raiders in 5th) meaning they returned to Div 6 again last year.

But again they had a shocker, coming 9th and are back with us in Div 7. So if you can remember an old United team from 2002/03/04 and 06 it looks like this is them...

Man, my head is spinning - but good sleuthing Nick. Whoever it is - they're screwed!

Oh yeah, i remember them now - they wore orange and blue and we played them a couple of times at Newtown park (strange that). A good team, and good guys. I think they may have been victim to rauru's punching of the ball into the goal that time.

The old zoo - would Melrose Park be the worst hunting ground for the Stallions? We had 2 hurtful losses there last season ...

They didn't seem like such good guys when they went ape shit at the 'Hand of God' (which was all head). But then when one of the oppsistion yells out "HAND OF GOD" after they have just scored I guess you wouldn't be too happy.

No dramas bro, it had already been given...Maradona would've been proud though....Haha!

Finally a confession! Rauru, you will appreciate the sad irony of today's loss - Elite deserved the win for sure - but the first goal was scored off a blatant hand ball!
