Funny what winning does to a team. Raiders had tons of match reports last year as they just missed out on relegation. This year they have been non existent. Sounds like a great win for them today.
Fantastic 4-3 win today after being down 3-1 with about 20 left. This is the Raiders I know and love - digging deep, never settling for a loss or draw, fighting to the death. Lower Hutt were a decent side but we wanted it much more. The win has put us 7th and we have the chance to keep moving up the table next week v the other Nth Wgtn side. Nairnville, 12.30 is the kickoff.
Our one will be up at some stage once Paddy the Pony stops sulking and writes it up for that disgraceful attempt at scoring direct from a corner.

I didn't think it was that bad an attempt! I managed to hit the post from 40 yards while you missed an open goal from 10 yards (twice)....
So I get to the game and there's 10mins left in the 1st half. I spy Paddy on the sideline and head over for a chat and he says to me we're 3 nil up and playing terribly!! Unheard of in my time wearing the beloved Stallion shirt. Expectations and standards are high with the class or should that be stable of 2013. Aaron subs and says so you're the forgotten Stallion and I say yeah I didn't even get on the less list!!! With a look of shock he laughs and says I didn't either and you're one of my favourite Stallions of all time!! Huge rap that considering some past and present Stallions. I head off behind goal and chat with Graeme and immediately see a 5 pass sequence all on the deck and to feet I'm rather jealous as that was about the max we could manage last year before the ball got hacked away or lost to the opposition. Back to the game and Raurus rounded the keeper and with an open goal can only hit the side netting and misses another one in the 2nd half as well...Halftime and Graeme touched the ball once.
Second half starts with Lachie in goal and the Stallions dominant yet seem to be in cruise mode. Another nice passing sequence ends with Lloyd to Graeme who is playing right wing crack in a nice left footer and get off the mark for the season...then subs not long after?!? Rauru misses another chance as the NW keeper makes a good save down low, the rebound going out to Aaron who shanks it high and wide. Next thing NW bodies go flying around in their box and the ball ends up in the back of their net, Lachie turns and says goal to Bakkie. NW get a lucky bounce Aaron makes a mistake at the back and a NW player is 1 on 1 with Lachie only to hit the side netting and that's as close as they get. Yet another good passing movement (I'm envious) and Stallions running off the ball ends with Bakkie unselfishly squaring the ball to an unmarked Rauru for an easy pie. I'm with Graeme on the sideline and we have a laugh at a throw in from Paul as I point and say prematurely Pony. With Lloyd having just subbed and Paul on the sidelines with me Aaron skies a clearance out towards me I take a couple of steps to my right and SLAM (cue heckles and laughter from the two teams gearing up behind me) worst of all I didn't even end up getting the ball LOL and all I could think of besides...damn there's nowhere to hide was that dreaded 4 letter word...PONY without a kick of the ball!! I've missed a goal somewhere??? The final whistle goes not long after I say goodbye and head off home and give my feet a good scratch. The only thing missing from a great team effort were the goal celebrations. My vote for Stallion goes to Bakkie for his unselfish play for Raurus goal and with 5 assists in the end I think. Nice game Stallions.
