Caption Contest 2

Good work on the last captioning contest - answers bringing in death camps, popular culture, but mainly focused on Corey's youthful nakedness. Nice one. Here's a little G Unit for you. Sucks to be wearing the headband on photoday.

The Great Stallions Captioning Contest 1

Here we go, another of Jamie's photos from last season. There are some good ones, and if you played vs Stop Out first round last season you will feature (some in more embarassing situations than others - bleeding helped draw Jamie's attention!). I'm going to release these photographs slowly. At least 3 good captions required for this one before we move on.

And the fines flowed freely

Picture: A ginger Stallion being ridden hard by Captain Goodall

Easy to forget about this with Euro2008 on, but the fines must get through. Corey and Mike - a good game to miss from the perspective of the bank account ...

Awards:
Stallion - Gus - One class goal, one bizarre goal no one else could score - all round big game.
Pony - Nick G - For a record 3rd time this season - the rugby tackle in the box. Thanks to Karena for pushing this.

MVP:
3 - Gus
2 - Ben B
1 - Tristin

Best fines:
- Multiple angry men/ref abuse - fines for those who did not swear at the ref.
- Ben B - swearing in front of little child.
- Paddy - swearing in front of parents.
- Ben H - Embarrassing Steve - who shook his head and said 'Oh, Ben'.
- Ben H - All head, no direction.
- Ben H - 'It was the wind'.
- Joe - Miami Vice tan.
- Robin - Giving himself a dead leg.
- Graham - Forgetting his own advice of always have a spare cellphone battery.
- Nick W - No triumphant return to the Stallions.
- Nick W - How did you put this Paddy, 'the touch of a ...'
- Logan - Calling the ref fat to his face.
- Logan - Using the C word at fine session with women present.
- Logan - Lack of compassion - scoring the winner when the keeper was prone on the ground.

Good old Logan - from Pony to Stallion, and the most fined ($9.50). Oh, sorry Ben B almost doubled his tally with $10.50. Good work Nick G - only 3rd most fined!

Here we go:

2 Triumphant Returns

The Stallions welcome the return of 2 of their finest this weekend - Nick W who has not been seen since round 1, and Joe who has been gone since round 3. I'm sure our rise to the top bit of the table has nothing to do with your absence, and your valuable presence both on and off the field is just what we need heading into the second round.

Any predictions for this weekend about this two? Will Nick finally manage to score and do one of his cartwheelie, handspring celebrations (Man, its been a while)? How many players will Joe beat - in all senses of the word! Welcome back. I've heard that Nick has grown a little thin European moustache.

Also Spencer is back - it hasn't been as long - but it feels like we have hardly seen you this season. Lets not forget last time you played you got the Stallion - high expectations ...

Talking about high expectations ... We all know Stop Out are going to cast anxious glances about hoping that our 'legend' keeper does a no-show. Ben, you dined out on your performance and the respect of this other team for a while, we will expect nothing less than a repeat tomorrow - I would hate to be you if you have a shocker vs Stop Out on the day when the whole team gets together for fining - could be nasty.

A full, good squad (not including Jamie) for this first time this season - let's do some damage.

Fined

Picture: Corey after putting his head on the line.

It was one of those good games - a good win and plenty of fines to keep the tally rolling.

$3 for all of you who missed the mandatory session - but at least you didn't have to stand outside the locked clubrooms for half an hour before heading to the B&B. Big ups to Corey who showed up after having a bleeding head, a huge black eye (with related headache), and working both before and after the game.

On with the findings:

Stallion - can there be any doubt? Who would have believed Ben would have won the coveted Stallion twice already this season!
Pony - Can there be any doubt? Nick G had absolute shocker - from showing up late and hungover, forgetting his boots, to playing like crap, not to mention the 5 terrible goal kicks straight to strikers feet, to blaming his reserve boots etc etc - not a good day out. Best moment - after 4 shit goalkicks asking for 'just 1 more' - the worst one of the lot. For that 1 game Ben was easily the best Stallion, Nick G the worst - poetic justice for all that abuse Ben has taken from Nick. A record $11 in fines for Nick.

MVP:
3 - Ben - nuff said.
2 - Jason - Picked up that Nick was umm below par and took over the main central D role - didn't even roam upfield seeking that goal!
1 - Tristin - 2 more goals, hard to argue.

Best fines:
Paddy - star returns to team after a 3 week absence, team turns to shit. Not a cut above ...
Paddy - spending most of the game on his arse.
Corey - the bleeding like a stuck pig fine.
Graham off a throw - 'Who wants head?'
Graham - Yelling to Rob that the ball was for him, when Rob was off the field.
Robin - the loudest 'nutsed' call yet - all good - except that it was obviously done by accident, off a cross/shot. In this case it was more embarrassing to be doing the nutsed than being nutsed.
Robin - then apologising to the player he nutsed, saying that he would get fined if he didn't yell it.
Aaron - warned by Steve for kicking the ball away after being penalised for elbow to back.
Ben H - that stupid celebration: 'My right foot, my right foot - I scored off my right foot!'
Logan - $5 - No showing a game to be part of the 48 hour film fest - you got off lightly.
Mike B - Another ankle breaker, and penalised for double knees to back (see below)

And saving the best for last ... Ben H - 'I can't take any throw-ins today - I might spread my Hep A!'

Fines/awards tally below ...

'An absolute legend'

Check out someone from Stop Out giving their perspective of yesterday's game on the YF forum. Of particular note is the glowing praise of Ben B as 'an absolute legend'. If only they knew the full story ...

Those awol stallions must think we are totally taking the piss. Ben B, 3 clean sheets, and yesterday an array of magnificent saves. Personal favourite the come out, collecting and controlling the ball in one hand (Robin put in well - like Bowie in Labyrinth). But there were also power shots directly at him, saves made in the air, along the ground, and the other one where his big mit swiped at a ball mere cms away from the goal line. Brilliant effort Ben, Anyway, enough from me, here's Stop Out:

'Thanks G.
Was a hard fought game with you boys and thought the scoreline was a bit rough on us although full credit to the team that takes their chances! Your keeper is an absolute legend I must say, is he like that every week or was that a oneoff??? A couple of his saves were Gordon Banks like, not to mention the time he came flying out for a cross he was never entitled to take and casually stuck one arm out under pressure and somehow the ball stuck!
Was a game played in good spirit though and look forward to playing you guys out in the hutt later in the season.
Glad to see the Sealords dropped points Clap looks like Marist are getting away at the top so could be a scrap for 2nd for the rest of us.........
PS . Whats with the state of nairnville park? Absolute bog despite hardly any rain throughout the week'

Ben doesn't even know who Gordon Banks is.

Let me put this out there - was this the best goalkeeping effort seen in a Stallions shirt? What do you say Jamie?
