Heard on the sidelines #34512

Sorry Dan, don't want to take away from your match report, but before I forget:

Spencer after his shocking tackle: 'What, I was the last line of defence. That was a goal saver'.

What happens in preseason, comes back to haunt you all season

Its a cruel and funny game - last game of last season Spencer volleys his way into Stallions folklore from about 20 meters. Yesterday, with an open goal beckoning from about 3 metres Spencer somehow manages to knee the ball over the post to give us our first terrible miss of the season - all of which will be documented.

Replay - Spencer's stunner

Its taken me all day to get this done, but imitating Spencer's goal on Fifa09, copying it, posting to youtube, is all such an ordeal - would have been easier just do it next week on the park.

Anyway, here is the closest take:

Already by popular demand its up on the goal of the season poll - sadly it forced my own entry out.

Stallion Hall of Fame
-
How many seasons as a Stallion?
3 seasons, or though due to the number of games I have missed and crippling injuries, probably equivalent to one full season.

Are you a dual Stallion? If so what game are you best at?
No. Even though I’m probably a better cricket player than a soccer player.

Greatest Stallion Moment?
Getting my own jersey. The concept of sharing bodily fluids by jersey swapping is quite disgusting when you stop to think about.

Worst Stallion Moment?
Snapping my achilles tendon last year and missing the rest of the season.

Describe your last goal for the Stallions.
A great run though the defensive line with a precision pass from Ben H and drilled into the left side netting only to be ruled offside. Unfortunately still goalless. Too busy making the rest of the team look good.

Complete the sentence - As a player I am susceptible to ... running too much when I haven’t got the ball and not running enough when I have got the ball.

Most under-rated Stallion?
Nick Goodall for his leadership qualities. When Nick talks everyone shuts up and listens.

Finish this sentence. The Stallions need more?
…fans. How can we expect to make the big money when we don’t have a fan base.

Which international player are you most like?
Dirk Kuyt. Hard working player for Liverpool but doesn’t get the profile and status of the big name players.

Where will the Stallions finish in 2008?
On top … of the division that is. No points for coming second!
