Game 1 - Results and fines

Great win Stallions, and good to get a couple of drinks in (with meals of course).

A couple of the awards decided.

MVPs:
The wide backs put in a huge effort, reflected in the points. Who would have thought Butch leading the standings after game 1!
3 - Mike B
2 - Joe
1 - Paddy

Stallion:
Panda - beating his marker who ends up on the ground, Panda stops, stands over him and lets him know just how crap he is. Stallion!
A close 2nd - Lloyd's hiptoss of the shirtpuller - which somehow managed to get us the freekick.

Pony:
This is a key one - the winner may be wearing the first headband - and of course will have to come up with a match report. Here are the options, this can go to the vote - but announce your vote in the comments section. Polls are no good for this - they can be rigged, and we should be transparent in who we vote for. Nominations:
- Paddy - The Rauru imitation fine - the 1 on 1 chip to the keeper/pass back.
- Graham - could have been a stallion - free header on the backpost, 1-1 midway through the second half - went backwards, followed by a huge FUUUCCCCKK.
- The Butcher returns - a rather nasty chop chop on their winger
- Have I forgotten?

Fines:
All of the above and quite a few others, feel free to nominate/list

Awards vs Nth Wellington

Blogs 4th post of the day - the Stallions are excitable!

Awards from this weekend's game:
Stallion: Aaron (enough said, see Logan's drawing)
Pony -  3 candidates:
Rauru - Some classic misses, notably that 'chip' of the keeper - and especially after using that Beckham video to represent his successful pre-season chipped goal. Apparently the ground was too hard, the ball too small, Rauru was too busy organising the team to do any pre-game shots, Panda was looking at him funny etc etc.
Joe: 'That will be my last rash challenge of the season', umm at least this lasted into the second half of the first game! Bad tackle - but could be worth the assist since they were all complaining and Logan scored.
Dan: First game as a permanent stallion, brings the team into disrepute by falling on his arse during a throw in right in front of their supporters who pointed and laughed. Most impressively, Dan managed to hold onto the ball through all of this.
And the winner is ... Dan, for your second game you will be wearing pink and writing the match report. Nice start!

MVPs: The defense dominant, no doubt. There was a lot of discussion about this, with so many options from a great team effort. But it panned out this way:
3 - Tangihaere
2 - Aaron
1 - Jason

Long may this continue. Fantasy points to come later in the week.

Points vs Aces

OK, not the most scientific of systems (but hey, neither is a bunch of muddy drunk guys arguing in a pub) - but done simply by tallying the nominations offered in the comments of the match report (you had your chance, its too late now), the results are as follows:

MVP:
3 - Jason
2 - Corey
1 - Aaron

Stallion: Corey
Pony: Paddy

As I have already said, a bit harsh on paddy - but i feel ok after realising that because he took off as the reigning pony the headband never made it onto the field.

Ben, you should add these to the tally and let us know how its looking at the business end. Though I would think Corey is light years in front of everybody else, chased by Tristin and Jason?

More tables

Final end of season awards ... Well done Tristin and Paddy for cleaning up with MVPs, and especially Ben B - 3 Stallion performances. A few obvious irregularities - people who really should have more points than they were awarded. Good effort from Nick W considering the number of games he played.

Final fines to follow ...

Sorry for the delay ...

... but here are the updated fine and awards docs.

A couple of notable things - with just 1 more angry man or half a missed shot Nick would have been the first Stallion to hit $100 in fines. Obscene. Have just checked the tallies and we have about $200 more than last season - despite having so many games rained off!

So either we are fining too hard (yes ben, we know - you have been harping on about this for ages and ages) or our skills are getting worse. The reality is that when the Stallions are doing well and morale is good the fines are high. No-one wants to fine people when the team are having a crap season - so let's take it as a good sign.

We could consider refunding some of the Stallions who got above say $80 - or (and this idea is more fun) - make sure they drink that extra amount at the end of year!

Anyway no doubt Paddy and Hodges will have something exciting to say on the matter, and Nick will just grin and bear it in good humour (his mind still on the missed pen).

Anyway, onto last week:

Stallion - Ben B - bled from the eye for the stallions - enough said. His 3rd stallion of the season - the most decorated Stallion player - perhaps ever?

MVP:
3 - Tristin - What can you say - dude got a hatrick on his birthday - while locking up the golden boot (unless Gus can sneak 5 or Saturday, or Nick White 14) and the most MVP points for the season. Great season. Shame you won't be there for the last game.
2 - Joe - Injury finally shaken off, back to his best, and didn't even hurt anyone.
1 - Graham - Good effort at the back, pushed forward well, no nakedness. Deserved.

Pony - Gus - thankfully there is no pre game drug testing, or post game greediness testing - cause he would fail at least 1 of these. Had the frustration of setting up Tristin repeatedly - but in doing so seeing his chance of golden boot drift away. Otherwise pants.

Best fines:
- Gus - Trying to get credit for a small graze on the knee alongside ben's facial wounds. Still got the blood fine.
- Ben B - The Mankind mask - see previous photo.
- Paddy and Spencer - The 'You are not Usian Bolt' fine - tying up laces as the action unfolded around them.
- Jason - Beaten by the big and old guy.
- Nick G - Graham Henry imitation - dropping players via text.
- Nick G - Poor micromanagement - 'you will all play for 22.3 minutes!'
- Aaron - 'I'm farked, can I go off before 44.8 minutes', 'No! Come back to centreback if you are tired', ' Umm, I'm okay - never felt better'.
- Nick W - Rebelling against the system - 'f**k the strategy, I'm subbing off now'.
- Nick W - 'I had a lot of play with Tristin'.
- Ben H - General bitching.
- Paddy - 'Its gone, its gone ... or sorry its not gone.'
- Joe - The Zoolander fine - can only turn 1 way.
- Joe - 'I can only turn 1 way because of my injury'

Oh yeah, and those missed shots tables are totally wrong - I have just found tucked into the back of the book the fines written on bits of paper when Jason kept forgetting the fine book early in the season. More missed shots for everyone (including Jason!). Although it does include the last Olympic game ...

Sorry, tables have gone bung again - click on them to lose all the grunginess.

The Electronic Vote vs Elite

Warning - this is going to be a long post ...

Awards:

And your democratically voted mvps are:
3: Robin (combined 14 points)
2: Nick G (10 points)
1: Mike B (6 points)

Honourable mentions to Panda and Tristin (if they had voted and given each other points this line up would be very different).

As for pony and stallion - I have nominations - look to the poll to your right. You have until Saturday morning to vote. Now (this is especially for you Nick) lets be honest here - 1 vote per poll per person.

I will run through the candidates now - although it should be stressed almost everybody struggled for nominations - a pretty meh game all round. I have dropped off some of the nominations that have no chance of being supported - ie the 2 people who nominated themselves for pony because 'I played like shit'. And for the pony all references to the second goal - since Nick G, Paddy, Jason & Corey were all blamed - the f**ken butler did it!

Stallion Candidates:
- Nick G - Big game at the back, 'he saved our bacon a few times'.
- Paddy - Another dominating game in the midfield. Kept the team together.
- Mike B - A huge game in defence (well, most said an excellent first half, a rather more shady second!). The nomination though is really for standing up and being big on D after taking so much crap coming into the team.
- Panda - Came on and sparked team to life, always in game.

Pony Candidates (some of these names may be familiar):
- Ben B - A fall from grace, from 'legend' double stallion back to Ben B 2005.
- Paddy - General whining, aggro, fighting and a shocking Butchard-like tackle, followed by a cowering away when they guy got up ready to fight.
- Nick G - Last week hangover - not wearing hand-earned headband, continuing to screw up goal kicks.
-Tristin - Forgetting the post-match beers.

Fines:

A long list here. Heres how this will work - I'm listing all nominated fines. These can be disputed in the comment box. If not successfully defended all these fines stand. Unless stated otherwise, all of these fines are 50c.

Ben B:
- Fall from grace - playing (at times) like it was 2005 again (Jamie cracks a little smile somewhere).
- Screwing up coming out to take the cross. Just lucky that someone (Corey?) was there to put pressure on the striker that prevented him scoring.
- Crap goal kicks.
- Fumble in the box.

Ben H:
- Bad role model - swearing in front of his own kids.
- Transforming into wild beast by the zoo fine - Partner: 'I haven't heard him talk like that before'.
- No shot striker - or no shots worth remembering ($1).
- Central mids giving too much space.
- Trying to claim that the 'good striker' mentioned in the other teams match report was him, not Tristin.
- The loudest 'Nutsed' call ever made (ever beat out Robin's the week before!).
- Nutsed 2 minutes after nutsing someone ($1).

Robin:
- Feather-brained - general mental slowness in getting into the right
position.
- Two kind-of strikes - one was really prospecting from way outside the box
when we were scrambling at the end, the other was a limp header straight to
the goalie. ($2 - 2 missed shots).
- Not calling nutsed - nutsed fear after last game.
- Having got over his fear of zoo animals from last time in Melrose.

Aaron:
- Center-mids giving too much space.
- Missed shot ($1).
- Dr Phil fine - spending valuable game time analysing relationship between Ben and his partner.
- Must harden-up/get more involved.

Paddy:
- Graham emulation fine - calling "Rob" when he kicked the ball, and
completely fluffing it, the ball going in the complete wrong direction.
- Not calling nutsed.
- Multiple Angry man/ref abuse ($2).
- Missed shot ($1).
- Centre-mids giving too much space.
- Shocking Butchard-like tackle ($1).
- ALMOST gave Nick the perfect pass when completely free and through, but it got intercepted. Unlucky but he admitted it wasn't good enough so that's a fine.
- Responsibility for final goal.
- Telling Ben to turn with the ball only for me to turn straight in to a storming opposition player.

Corey:
- Think he was behind his man when the last goal was scored, though
that was a bloody well-timed strike.
- Kicked ball into opposition's hand.
- Horrid collision in box, opposition limps off.

Jason:
- Not the running man. Claimed he was incapable of running when told to jog up to half way with the defensive line.
- Missed shot ($1).
- Self claimed 'general shit'.
- Giving too much space.
- Left marker, who scored the goal ($1).

Nick G:
- Continued goalkick shockers ($1).
- Angry man/ref abuse ($1).
- No headband ($5).
- Extra special crap goal kick that flies out, followed by ('Where is everyone! - who wants that ball!'). Finemaster special - double that - Nick joked about fining the whole team for this incident ($1).
- Giving man too much space.

Mike B:
- Floating like a butterfly, stinging like a bee - floating throwins, ankle smashing tackles. (That's 2 fines me thinks - $1).
- A lack of any ball playing skills.

Tristin:
- Forgetting post-match beers. What's this worth? The same as forgetting the headband/pony? ($5?)
- Texting twice on game day - to find out both where and when we were playing ($1).
- The 'Not Willy' low workrate fine.
- No self fining.

Panda:
- Striker positioned in the defensive line.
- The smiling assassin.
- No self fining.
- No strikes, or nothing recalled ($1).

Right, I'm sure there are some errors/problems with this. Whatever. Can I go to work now?

Finelicious

Here are last weekend's awards and fines vs United Terrace. Fines/award tables to the right, below polls (including 1 oddly small one).

Awards:
Pony - Paddy - mass forgetting of pony, verbals with justice, crapped pants(?).
Stallion - Tristin - good goal and general play (Oddly he also got fined for hogging it, lack of vision and 2 missed shots - Welcome back Tristin!).

MVP:
3 - Tristin
2 - Ben B
1 - Nick G

Fine highlights:
Jason - 'the flying twinkle'
Ben H - 'The voice of reason' & trying to kick the ball with 1 foot, missing and hitting with other.
Joe - calling for a penalty when fouled by Hodges.

eijets - all of you.
